Internship Program on Museum Studies

RKSM Sister Nivedita Heritage Museum & Knowledge Centre conducted its first 60-hour Internship Program on Museum Studies during May–June 2025. Aligned with the NEP undergraduate curriculum of the University of Calcutta, the program enrolled twelve 4th-semester History Honours students from Rammohan College, Kolkata.

Beginning on 15th May, the internship offered a month-long exposure to the Heritage and ideals that shaped Sri Sarada Math, rooted in the vision of Swami Vivekananda. Students attended lectures and discussions on the history of the Math and Sister Nivedita’s concept of a University Settlement, conducted by Matajis, Prof. Raikamal Dasgupta, and others.

Sessions on architecture and restoration were led by Sri Monish Chakraborty and Pravrajika Asheshprana. Hands-on training in conservation and archival practices was offered by Sri Subir Dey and Dr. Sumita Sil. Lectures on design thinking and digital innovation were delivered by Smt. Susmita Chakraborty, Dr. Sankha Bose, and others. Field visits to Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House and the Alipore Jail Museum added practical insight.

Students completed digital group projects, delivered presentations, and submitted individual reports for evaluation. The program concluded with a Certification Ceremony on 20th June, graced by Pravrajika Dhyanaprana, Pravrajika Vedarupprana, Sri Debashis Biswas (Inspector of Colleges CU),  the Principal of Rammohan College and other dignitaries.
